Take a preview of the Norton Museum of Art’s new summer exhibition, Out of this World: Extraordinary Costumes from Film and Television, on display from June 4 – Sept. 4.
Jacob McMurray, Senior Curator, Experience Music Project | Science Fiction Museum in Seattle, Wash., and co-creator of Out of this World, leads a tour, and discusses the exhibition.
Sci-fi and action-adventure fans will have an opportunity to view the capes, clothing, and costumes of their favorite characters from legendary science-fiction and action-adventure films and TV shows such as Star Wars, Star Trek, Batman, Battlestar Galactica, and The Terminator, among others. The exhibition, organized by the Experience Music Project | Science Fiction Museum at Seattle Center, features original costumes, and dozens of related accessories, organized into sections based on themes such as “Heroes and Villains,” “Creating the Character,” and “Caped Crusaders.”
Visitors can see the hat worn by Margaret Hamilton as the Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz (1939); the leather jacket worn by Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989); the costume worn by George Clooney as Batman in Batman & Robin (1997), and so much more.
