Since allowing funding for the popular Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) to expire in September, nearly 9 million children across the U.S. were facing losing their coverage if an extension wasn’t granted. This week, Congress passed a last-minute reprieve – extending funding until March 2018. Still, Florida and fifteen other states are projecting they will run out of funds by early next year.
