It’s been just over a week since the senseless mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, where 17 lives were lost. As the nation continues to mourn with the South Florida community, students throughout Florida and other states are turning their pain into change with the #NeverAgain movement – using their voices to urge lawmakers to tighten gun control policy to prevent another tragedy. Through our partnership with PBS NewsHour’s Student Reporting Labs (SRL), we hear from students across the country on how this movement could be a pivotal moment for their generation.
We also get insight on how to move forward and keep children safe in schools from Miami-Dade County Public Schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho; and ways to help children and the entire community grieve from psychologists Mindy Cassel and Roni Leiderman.
